Israel - Yom HaZikron/Yom Ha'atzmaut

Today is Yom HaZikron - the day Israel remembers those fallen in either direct battle with or in terror attacks by those whose objective was and is the eradication of the Jewish people and the Jewish homeland. We remember their contributions in life and in memory of their sacrifice. Immediately afterwards, the very next day, Israel celebrates Yom Ha'atzmaut - its independance day. This is very intentional. Remembering the sacrifice and celebrating the survival of the Jewish people...one cannot occur without the other.
